James Wharram built Tangaroa at home and then proceeded to cross the Atlantic in 1955. It was the first time a catamaran had made a serious ocean passage and it created a great deal of interest. Now one can buy a 'Wharram' both in kit-form or pre-built and they are seen in waters all over the world. |
