Serenade was built for the 1938 Trans - Pac Race. Her designer, Nicholas Potter, was known as the Herreshoff of the west coast. 'My stepfather was one of the owners. Not sure of purchase dates, but Hart Isaacs was my stepfather. We lived in Beverly Hills, and the boat was kept in San Pedro. We had a Mooring in Cherry Cove, Catalina, where we sailed every weekend in the summers from 1966-1968. My Stepfather died, and his son, Hart Isaacs jr. kept the boat for a short while and then sold it to Phillipe Cousteau'. Information courtesy of Tricia Burlingham 'In 1999/2000, Serenade underwent a restoration by William Cannell Boatbuilding (Camden, ME). Particular attention was paid to retaining all original hardware, butternut interior paneling, the spiral staircase, brass fireplace, Herreshoff windlass and compass binnacle'.
