Only four of the 'fighting forties' remain. Previously owned by Brooks Stevens Jr. There are old photos that shows Marilee jib headed with no gaff or bowsprit. She was rigged strictly as a sloop. Marilee was restored by William Cannell in Camden, Maine, in 2001 for a syndicate of New York Yacht Club members. She then went to Cowes for the America's Cup Jubilee regatta in August and cleaned up. She is now owned by an Italian family and continues to do well at the annual classic regattas in the Mediterranean. |
