Latifa

She was built for Michael Mason and finished second in both the 1937 and 1939 Fastnets.

A model of Latifa stands as a wind vane on the Fairlie Parish Church Spire bringing back memories of a by-gone era. The canoe stern is a sight to behold!

Uffa Fox described her as 'a great delight to lovers of sailing vessels, for she is one of the loveliest of sailing craft yet seen, and I can see her now smoking up through the Solent with a north west breeze over her quarter, everything set even to the mizen staysail, and all her cloud of canvas seeming to lift her out of the water'. Fox loved her 'clean buttocks and water-lines' and her 'seaworthy overhangs'.

Owned since 1976 by Mario Pirri who took his family around the world in 1999

She was restored at Cantieri Beconcini, La Spezia of Italy and went around the world in 1999.
