Courageous

With new America's Cup regulations 'Courageous' could be constructed from aluminium making her both lighter and faster. She successfully defended the Cup in 1974 and three years later, amongst intense competition, defeated the Australians. Not until 1980 was she defeated by her younger sister, the S&S 12-Metre 'Freedom'. Her other names have included Courageous III & IV.
