Alano was built in Falmouth, UK, for an American who wanted a purpose-built British yacht. She features in Eric Hiscock's 'Cruising Under Sail' and was up for sale under the name of 'Acquest' in 2006 for £30,000. Bought in 2008 and taken back to her original name of 'Alano' she undertook a 6 month refit in Cornwall, UK. "The refit which was started last year and continued without pause, was restarted after the winter whilst on her moorings. I estimate that with luck she should be sailing, although still needing small, inevitable amounts of work by late July this year. The actual refit will then have taken a year of uninterrupted work."(2009) |
