Jack Laurent Giles 1901-1968 UK In 1927 Laurent Giles was based in Lymington, UK. He worked with co-designer, John Illingworth, who was skipper and designer of such yachts as ‘Dyarchy’ and ‘Maid of Malham’. Another yacht designed was ‘Wanderer’. Towards the end of the 1930’s Giles drew cutters and sloops that were involved in metric class races including the 12-Metre, ‘Flica’. Giles’ most famous design was the 1936 25ft ‘Vertue’ to which there have been over 200 built. |
